Christina Aguilera Gets Ready For Burlesque

Christina and Cher are going to highlight the silver screen this Thanksgiving in the upcoming film Burlesque. Fans have been pretty torn on the films release considering a variety of things; the disposition of Christina’s career taking a back seat to her family life, and to be blunt, the fact that Cher is practically 70. So after movie flops like Glitter which basically tell the same story as this (creating a superstar from nothing), what makes this Burlesque movie so fantastic that it won’t follow foot with Glitter? I guess the film executives thought that the Ace of Spades was Cher, but from the buzz floating about before the movie even launches, it seems like she’s just hurting its appeal. She can do music all she wants, but movies weren’t really her thing…besides Moonstruck…because that’s a classic.

Do you think fans should be so critical as to judge her based on her age? What about Christina? This abrupt detour back into Hollywood comes at a very random time. She could just be looking to make a quick buck during the holiday season to help finance her $10 million home and expenses. Or maybe she’s thinking of a career revival? Who knows until it happens right?

Kanye West is Going After NBC

Kanye West is no stranger to controversy. Really after so many run in’s with so many outlets and individuals, we’re getting pretty sure that he’s addicted to it. Right now he’s using social media as a weapon and going after the folks at the Today show. Matt Lauer apparently bit off a bit more than he could chew with West on the today show. The Today Show thought it’d be a good idea to get West heated during an interview. They decided to air two of the most controversial clips regarding the performer. One of them was the Taylor Swift altercation at the MTV Video Music Awards – the other was the one-liner he gave with Mike Myers during the relief effort for Hurricane Katrina. Now these two events are quite far apart from each other and in the back of the medias mind, but the Today Show did its best to get them back in the front lines. Well, it didn’t entirely work. Kanye got pissed, left, and now refuses to perform on the show even though he was announced for Thursday.

So was it really a great idea by NBC? Who knows? Maybe West overreacted or maybe he saw it coming and want to play the drama queen card – either way it is yet another mess involving Kanye West, where nothing goes to plan, and everything gets diluted.

Phil Collins Collects Artifacts From The Alamo

Do you perhaps remember Phil Collins? The contemporary singer has just released information to Rolling Stone that has people quite a stir considering the musicians background. Collins isn’t really known for his rebel attitude or going against the grain in any sort of manner, but this new interview with Rolling Stone reveals that he has, on one or more occasion, considered taking his own life. Not only that, but Phil earnestly believes that he has lived past lives. He has no idea what these lives had done, but he does know that he has memories and dreams from them – some of which influenced some of his most successful songs. Other than that Phil keeps busy collecting artifacts from the Alamo. How random can you get?

Collins lives in Switzerland despite collecting artifacts from somewhere in Texas. Wouldn’t it make sense to go closer to where the Alamo is in order to collect artifacts from there? I guess this gives him more of a challenge to complete his goal. Phil – you’re a rebel now buddy, and you deserve to be on brawl music.

Kid Cudi Debuts Rock Song with St. Vincent

Kid Cudi is back for a second album, Man on The Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager . It’s getting a lot darker for Kid Cudi through his music and his personal life. And it looks like he’s establishing himself as a very transparent artist. And aren’t those the best kinds?

He recently performed a track from the album for the first time. It’s called St. Vincent, and though it carries the same vocal style that Kid Cudi made an early name for himself for, fans can already tell that the record is going to be much more demonic for the Kid. It’s getting really promising reviews this early out with Entertainment Weekly giving it an A- so we can expect quality.

DEVO Postpones 2010 Tour Dates

Bob Mothersbaugh is the reason DEVO will be forced to cancel the remaining seven shows of their 2010 tour including dates in New York City and Austin, but with good reason. Unfortunately Bob ran into a serious injury slicing his hand with a knife. For a lead guitarist this is a nightmare, but one that DEVO is ready to take on. Download music from DEVO here.

According to a statement made by DEVO, a glass shard cut his hand directly to the bone on his right thumb. He is expected to make a complete recovery after therapy, but that could take months. DEVO doesn’t plan on replacing him to finish the tour so fans who expected to see them on their remaining tour dates are just out of luck.

Here’s hoping he gets better soon and returns to the front of rock n’ roll stardom.

Red Hot Chili Peppers Halfway Done With New Album

The drummer for RHCP has just announced to Billboard that their next album is officially…50% of the way done.

This news comes from a drought of information from the Red Hot Chili Peppers. As time progressed they haven’t been on the scene at all, whether its a live show here and there, a television appearance, or even a slot on one of VH1’s many “remember this crap” shows. When bands go this far into the shadows a lot of assumptions can be made, so it’s refreshing to hear that they’ve been spending the time working on their new album. Download music from RHCP here.

Their last album, Stadium Arcadium, was the most successful record the band has ever put out selling well over 4 million copies. With numerous tracks to grace radio such as Snow, the band is known around the world for taking their California style into countries like Brazil, Spain, and even Uganda.

Currently there are no singles or leaks so we don’t know what to expect, but from their history we can expect some good old fashioned RHCP fusion. They have a spectacular way of blending funk, rock, hip hop, and elements of reggae into their tracks that bands have attempted to emulate for years…but to no avail. RHCP keeps it genuine, even after 13 years.

Linkin Park Has Returned

MTV has recently dubbed Linkin Park as one of the top 10 rock bands on the planet. Where I wouldn’t go that far to describe the bands success, I will say that I do admire their determination. Their most recent music video, Catalyst, has blown plenty of people away and given them an excuse for their hiatus. Download music from the rock band here.

In respect to the band, it’s hard to top Hybrid Theory, their first album, which was an instrumental part of the rap-rock sensation. Catapulting them to the top of the billboard 200 with bands like Limp Bizkit, it’d be difficult to transcend their sound to fit a more modernized audience. In other words, the band did not adopt what most bands did of the time. The mentality of, “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it.”

Because of this they have evolved into the video above. A bit creepy for my taste considering the familiarity of the band, but for a new generation comes a new installment of Linkin Park.

T.I is Going Back To Jail

T.I has done it again. He has violated his probation of three years and has been sentenced to an 11-month term two weeks from today. The rapper was caught with drugs last month in Los Angeles, but delayed his sentencing until right now. This information coming into focus brings question into the incident which involved T.I helping a man down from jumping off of a 20-story building in Atlanta.  Download music from T.I here.

The judge did not seem to care about T.I’s good nature as he delivered the 11 month sentence for violating probation. Originally T.I was incarcerated for illegal weapons possession, but his probation was violated due to pot. Yes, pot. He went from carrying illegal firearms to smoking weed in the car.

It also didn’t help that he was associated with a known felon, but hey, it’s his choice.

So really, all we’ve learned is that T.I makes incredibly silly choices.

T.I Talks Down Suicide Jumper

“Something in me just said, ‘Man you gotta try and help. You gotta do whatever you can,’” T.I. later told reporters. T.I. met with police and then recorded a video message that the police then showed to the man on the ledge. On the video, T.I. said, “Nothing is that bad. Nothing in life is worth taking your life. I’m here to help you. Please come down to talk to me.”

Remember T.I? You might remember him from when he was almost gunned down or from when he was in trouble with the law for an illegal weapons possession charge. Well believe it or not, this same guy saved a life the other day. On his way to a video shoot, T.I was notified that someone was sitting atop the 22-story high radio tower in Atlanta. Being familiar with the area, DJ Ryan Cameron called T.I and asked if there was something he could do to persuade the jumper. Not only did T.I detour to the building, but he spoke to the man directly. After the man quietly came down, T.I spoke to him a few minutes in private before escorting him to an ambulance.

There’s more to this story as it’s developing as people are accusing it as a publicity stunt for T.I. It hasn’t been confirmed either way, but there will be quite a storm ahead of the rapper if his fans find out he’d go through these straits to gain some publicity.

Otherwise, he’s truly a humanitarian and an honest to God good spirit. They’re pretty different stances so until we know more – we’ll just have to go with our gut on this.
